"Anniversary Feast" by Jacqueline Mair, is a mixed-media piece that employs a cubist and folk-art aesthetic to render a symbolic still life. The composition is fragmented, with objects like the ewer, fruit bowl, and a flying bird broken down into distinct, interlocking geometric shapes and planes of color. The artist uses a limited, earthy palette of browns, blues, and ochres, creating a muted and rustic feel. There is a strong emphasis on surface texture, with the layered materials—likely a combination of paint, collage, and drawing—creating a rich, tactile quality. The work's style is reminiscent of early 20th-century movements but with a unique, whimsical charm that gives it a narrative and dream-like quality.
